UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF)

Overview

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund will provide £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.

The Fund aims to improve life for residents across the UK by investing in three themes:

  • communities and place
  • supporting local business
  • people and skills

Successful projects

Funded by UK government

A number of projects have been successful for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) across two open calls.

These projects were successful after detailed, independent assessments which looked at how bids could:

  • deliver by March 2025
  • meet the objectives of UKSPF
  • deliver key local growth priorites, as set out in the prospectus

Current projects

  • Hospitality & Hope: community shops to expand the provision of healthy, affordable food and the provision of wider support services.
  • Tyne Rivers Trust: river therapy project with a clear programme of practical conservation focused on transforming four abandoned areas of green spaces.
  • Big Local Jarrow: community centre and wellness hub, expansion of programme and enable more people to access activities and meeting places.
  • South Tyneside Council: introduction of a business and community response team to work daily with businesses, shoppers, residents and partners.
  • The Wise Group: creation of a Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) to provide mentoring support and advocacy to help fuel-poor households.
  • South Tyneside Council: public art and community outreach / school engagement to improve the public realm in Hebburn town centre.
  • TEDCO Business Support: building futures start-up programme to help create start-ups and engage with people in disadvantaged areas to reduce worklessness.
  • South Tyneside Council: establishment of a South Tyneside care academy.
  • Foundation of Light: Career Warm-Up project to engage economically inactive/unemployed residents.
  • Rise North East: Engaging women in community activities which will address initial barriers to employment.
  • Emmaus North East - Where there's a will... project for unemployed people.
  • Volunteer It Yourself - refurbishment of four community facilities supporting economically inactive residents with vocational training and qualifications.
  • North East Autism Society - Neurodivergent employment service - a programme of expert-led, one-to-one support for economically inactive participants.
  • South Tyneside Council - information, advice and guidance for job seekers and those who are currently economically inactive.
  • Bright Futures - community based activities for women and girls to increase participation, removing barriers, improving health and wellbeing and providing skills to progress into work.
  • Zenith People - STAR Programme - tailored intensive vocational supporting for economically inactive 16-24 year old residents.
  • Compact for Race Equality in South Tyneside - Upskill to Success project providing education, training and employability activities to BAME communities in South Tyneside.
  • Groundwork South and North Tyneside - training and learning hub at Jarrow Hall.
  • Age Concern Tyneside South - Good2Graft project targeting economically inactive people to provide skills and work experience and opportunities to employment.
