What they offer
Jarrow Hall was taken over by Groundwork in October 2016, and features a museum dedicated to exploring the life and legacy of Bede.
The purpose is to challenge the way people think about their place in history, to inspire a lifelong interest in the natural environment and to encourage individual reflection and action.
Activities
The service has developed enrichment activities to support adults and young people. They use the natural environment, culture and heritage as an engagement tool to boost confidence, build skills and resilience for those most in need.
There isn't a lot of space for these programmes to take place, but they have planning permission to replace an old porta-cabin with a new log-cabin buidling. This will be very different from traditional education settings.
The landscaping will enhance the value and visual appearance of the area and will be delivered as part of a social action project. This is open to existing and new adult volunteers at Jarrow Hall. It will help local residents create a sense of ownership as they improve their community.
