Viking Energy Network Jarrow - RICS public sector project award (North East winner)

The Viking Energy Network Jarrow (VENJ) is South Tyneside Council's cutting-edge renewable energy scheme. It is first of its kind in the UK to utilise a combination of three renewable energy sources.

The benefits of VENJ are threefold: reducing greenhouse gas emissions; creating a reliable, good-value source of heat and improving energy security by diversifying from fossil fuels into the renewable energy sector. It is estimated that VENJ will save 1,035 tonnes of CO2 and £492,000 annually.

We are now entered into the national awards which are on 4 October 2024.
