In accordance with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act 1983, Section 16 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 and the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, notice is hereby given that South Tyneside Council has reviewed the existing polling districts, places and stations and made the changes as listed below:

Beacon and Bents

Polling district AD

  • Changes: - The new polling place will be St Hilda's Church, Market Place, South Shields.
  • Reason: The previous location (The Word) was not suitable due to the high level of library traffic.

Polling district AE

  • Changes:  - The new polling place will temporarily be relocated to The Coroners Office, Beach Road, South Shields.
  • Reason: The Register Office is not available for 2 May 2024.

Biddick and All Saints

Polling district BD

  • Changes: The new polling place will be Biddick Hall and Whiteleas Family Hub, Galsworthy Road, South Shields.
  • Reason: The previous location (Chuter Ede Community Association) is due to be demolished.

Cleadon Park

Polling district CE

  • Changes: The polling place will return to a Portable Station on McAnany Avenue, South Shields.
  • Reason: The previous location (Cleadon Park Health Centre) was not suitable for the residents of this polling district.

Simonside and Rekendyke

Polling district FD

  • Changes: The new polling place will be Hospitality and Hope, Hudson Street, South Shields.
  • Reason: The previous location was a portable unit. They are no longer suitable for use due to their size and poor accessibility and should only be used where no other permanent buildings are available.

Hebburn South

Polling district RB

  • Changes: The new polling place will be The Community Room, Lakeside Hall, Lilac Walk, Hebburn.
  • Reason: The previous location (Hartleyburn and Clegwel Community Hub) was too far to travel to for some of the elderly resident of RB who live closer to the new location.

Polling district RC

  • Changes: The new polling place will be Elmfield Social Club, Campbell Park Road, Hebburn.
  • Reason: Voters from polling district RC reported that they found it difficult to find the previous station at Lakeside Hall.

Monkton

Polling district SC

  • Changes: The polling place will return to a Portable Station on Hautmont Road / Penrith Road.
  • Reason: The previous location (Marquee in the car park of the Lord Nelson Public House) was not suitable as a polling place or for the residents of this polling district.

No changes were proposed to any polling district boundaries or to any places and stations not listed above; this is due to high satisfaction levels and continued availability of the polling places.
