About this course

This course is for those who have contact with children, young people and their families and need to understand more about the impact of physical abuse.


Aims

The aim of this course is to raise awareness and knowledge about the physical abuse of children and young people and the impact this has on them.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Define physical abuse in the context of current research and policy
  • Identify the signs, symptoms and significant indicators of physical abuse
  • Recognise the impact of physical abuse on the children
  • Identify key areas within the Multi-Agency Threshold Guidance that would support Early Help intervention
  • Identify key elements in assessing risk in relation to physical abuse

This course is ran by Russ Saunders, Learning and Development Advisor / Member of the multi-agency Pool of Trainers.


Who can attend

Anyone working with children, adults and families in South Tyneside can apply for a place.
