About this course

This is a briefing session to familiarise practitioners with the Safeguarding Adults Review (SAR) protocol. It is aimed at all practitioners who may need to make a referral for a SAR to be considered using the SAR Criteria:

  • An adult has experienced serious abuse or neglect which had resulted in, permanent harm, reduced capacity or quality of life and
  • There is a concern that partner agencies could have worked more effectively to protect the adult.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course delegates will understand:

  • The background and criteria for conducting a SAR and when a request should be made
  • The response from the STSCAP to the request for a SAR
  • The response from partners to the request for information from STSCAP
