About this course
This is a briefing session to familiarise practitioners with the Safeguarding Adults Review (SAR) protocol. It is aimed at all practitioners who may need to make a referral for a SAR to be considered using the SAR Criteria:
- When an adult with care and support needs has died (including death by suicide), and abuse or neglect is known or suspected to be a factor in their death.
- An adult has experienced serious abuse or neglect which had resulted in, permanent harm, reduced capacity or quality of life and
- There is a concern that partner agencies could have worked more effectively to protect the adult.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course delegates will understand:
- The background and criteria for conducting a SAR and when a request should be made
- The response from the STSCAP to the request for a SAR
- The response from partners to the request for information from STSCAP
- The expectation of multi-agency partners
