About this course
The training course aims to equip staff to effectively understand their roles and responsibilities to undertake a section 42 Enquiry and assess risk to develop a robust safeguarding plan.
The course also introduces learners to the concept of Making Safeguarding Personal, understanding individual and corporate responsibility in Promoting Dignity and Duty of Care, taking into account current legislation and guidance.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Understand the Safeguarding procedural process
- Understand the need for Making Safeguarding Personal in the promotion of service users views, wishes and feelings
- Understand roles and responsibilities and the purpose of a section 42 enquiry
- Develop an understanding of the Legal Framework for Safeguarding Adults
- Develop the skills for effective assessment and enquiry - interviewing witnesses and critical analysis.
- Analyse effective risk assessment for defensible decisions and ways of balancing often outwardly incompatible outcomes (for example, the desire of a person at risk of harm to maintain relationships that are, or are potentially abusive.)
- Understand the responsibilities for referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service
