Aims

  • To raise awareness and understanding of the procedures when allegations are made against staff, carers and volunteers who work with children, young people and adults at risk. 
  • To understand the role of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session participants will:

  • Be able to follow the correct procedures and have an understanding of the complex processes involved in addressing allegations against staff, carers and volunteers
  • Be able to assist agencies to identify the appropriate responses within their own agencies
  • Have an awareness of safe recruitment, vetting and referral procedures
  • Be able to maximize opportunities to hear the child's voice
  • Have an understanding of the role of the LADO
