About this course
This training course is open to all staff across Health and Social Care who may come into contact with adults at risk.
The aim of this course is to help frontline staff understand the perspectives of self-neglect and the range of available interventions to support people who self-neglect.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Understand the relationship between self-neglect and safeguarding
- The concept of self-neglect and its manifestations
- Understand the tensions between respect for autonomy and a perceived duty to preserve health and wellbeing. The interface with self-determination and human rights
- Building and maintaining supportive relationships through which services can in time be negotiated.
- Support for those who self-neglect who lack mental capacity
This course is ran by Russ Saunders, Learning and Development Advisor/ Member of the multi-agency Pool of Trainers.
