Overview

Making A Great Important Change (MAGIC) is South Tyneside Council's Children in Care Council, it was established by children in care FOR children in care.

The Children in Care Council represents all cared for children and Care Leavers. There are three strands to the Children in Care Council:

  • Mini MAGIC - is a range of activities for younger children who are cared for in South Tyneside.
    • We hold a Mini MAGIC fun event every half-term holiday. These events are for children who are cared for, aged 5 to 11 years (we also welcome children they live with).
    • The Mini MAGIC reference group is a small fortnightly group aimed at children aged 8 to 11 years. This is a fun group that helps plan our half-term events.
  • MAGIC Group - There are two weekly MAGIC groups for young people who are cared for, aged 12 to 16 years. They are involved in various projects to help make important changes to the lives of children and young people in care. They also take part in fun activities and attend an annual residential trip.
  • Care Leavers Council - The Care Leavers Council (CLC) is a monthly group for young people aged 17 to 25 years. The CLC aims to make changes and improve services for care leavers in South Tyneside.

All of the people who are involved in your care want you to be safe, happy and achieve your aims.

MAGIC's 'film in a day' explains what MAGIC is and highlights priorities for cared for children in South Tyneside:
