The World Health Organisation sets out five key evidenced based interventions for safer roads

  1. Setting and enforcing speed limits
  2. Designing roads according to their function (e.g. highways, suburban roads)
  3. Speed cameras or stationary enforcement
  4. Traffic calming measures, such as speed bumps and traffic circles
  5. Education and public information
