Overview

Local groups and organisations can now apply for a grant for community projects.

This funding is called the Local Neighbourhoods Scheme 2024 / 2025.

The scheme will run from 31 May 2024 to 27 February 2025. Funding must be spent by the end of March 2025.

These grants are awarded at the discretion of the Community Area Forums.

Decisions will start to be made from 1 June 2025.

Aims of the scheme

The aims and objectives of the Local Neighbourhoods Scheme are to:

  • fund projects which are a high priority in local terms, but which cannot be funded from other mainstream or borough wide sources
  • help local voluntary and community organisations to develop and extend their activities for the benefit of disadvantaged groups
  • stimulate self-help within the community, develop a community spirit and enhance local pride within the borough generally
  • undertake small scale, locally important improvements and projects which deliver at a local level

About the funding

You can only apply for funding for one project.

You can apply for funding for:

  • a community event (maximum £1,000)
  • a project including an overnight stay
  • maintenance of a building
  • a one off event, such as a day trip or party (maximum £500)
  • purchasing equipment (maximum £1,000)

Grants are awarded at the discretion of the Community Area Forums. You may be awarded less than you apply for.

Your group must contribute towards the total cost of the project. In your application, you must indicate which items will be funded by the Local Neighbourhoods Scheme and which items will be funded by your group. You must provide quotes for any items to be purchased.

When your project is complete, you must provide receipts to show both contributions from the Local Neighbourhoods Scheme and from your group. If you spend less than intended, this must be taken from the Local Neighbourhoods Scheme and not the contribution made by your group.

Before you apply

Before you apply, please read the operating procedures and the terms and conditions.
