North East Trading Standards Association (NETSA)

The North East Trading Standards Association (NETSA) is a partnership of 12 local authority Trading Standards Services;

The North East Trading Standards Association (NETSA) works to not only provide protection for consumers, but to encourage the viability of business within the North East of England, by providing a level field ground for business to operate. 


Balance

Balance is the North East of England's Alcohol Office - and the first of its kind in the UK.

Balance aim to inspire changes to the way people in the North East think about and drink alcohol. We aren't saying no to alcohol and we still want people to enjoy themselves. But we do want to encourage people to reduce their consumption - and reduce the impact that alcohol is having on our region. For more information visit the Balance North East website.


Police

South Tyneside Trading Standards team work closely with colleagues in Northumbria Police to deal with issues such as counterfeit goods, doorstep crime and underage sales throughout the borough.

South Tyneside PCT

South Tyneside Primary Care Trust serves a population of around 151,000.

As leader of the local NHS it is responsible for assessing the health needs of local people and planning and buying the health services required to meet these needs.

This means working closely with local hospitals, GP practices, pharmacies, dental practitioners and optometrists, as well as our social care partners to ensure the best possible range of services are available.

South Tyneside Primary Care Trust, Gateshead Primary Care Trust and Sunderland Teaching Primary Care trust have been brought together under a single management team collectively know as NHS South of Tyne and Wear.

Metrology Laboratory

Tyne and Wear Metrology Laboratory achieved UKAS accreditation in 1993 and has been offering a mass calibration service to local industry since then.

Recent investment has seen the laboratory expand to mass calibration at the E2 level which has put the laboratory onto the national stage, attracting customers from around the UK.

Tyne and Wear Joint Committee on Trading Standards oversee the laboratory on behalf of the County Councils of Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland.
