Overview

The building regulations set the minimum acceptable standards for construction work.

The legislation, regulations and associated approved documents (which give guidance on compliance) can be accessed free of charge:

Building safety regulator

The building control profession is regulated by the building safety regulator who sits within the HSE (Health and Safety Executive). An overview of the regulators role and the rules and standards for building control providers can be found on the HSE website.
