Consultation on the draft Local Plan

Consultation on the Publication draft Local Plan (Regulation 19) took place between 15 January to 3 March 2024.

Consultation has now closed on the Publication draft Local Plan (Regulation 19) and the Fellgate Sustainable Growth Area Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) Scoping Report.

The consultation ran for 7 weeks from 15 January 2024 to 3 March 2024.

During this time we also organised some information sessions where you could ask any questions you may have. View the Local Plan presentations.

This consultation follows previous consultation carried out in 2022.

What happens to comments submitted

The consultation in early 2024 represented the final stage before the South Tyneside Local Plan, its accompanying evidence, and all submitted comments are sent to a government Planning Inspector for independent examination.

We will be reviewing all of the representations made to the Publication draft Local Plan (Regulation 19) and will then submit them to the Planning Inspectorate.

In accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the Planning Inspector will consider all comments made within the consultation period.

Comments made to the Fellgate Sustainable Growth Area SPD will be considered by Council officers to help inform the production of the supplementary planning document.
