To commemorate VE Day we are recalling the devastation caused by the bombing raids on South Shields during WWII.

Local history talks take place at the Wednesday Heritage Club usually every second Wednesday of the month, 2-3pm at The Word. Tickets are £2 and are available to buy online (plus booking fee) or from the first-floor staff pod at The Word.

Our May Heritage Club talk is Humanity and Courage delivered by speakers Catrin Galt and David Whale.

To commemorate VE Day, Catrin and David's talk updates on the original film and talk given by Hildred Whale and Dave Walker. The talk includes Amy Flagg's famous photographs of the devastation caused by the bombing raids on South Shields during WWII.
