Age Friendly Communities
Contents
Overview
We want South Tyneside to be a place where people live healthy and active later lives.
Where people can continue to stay living in their homes, participate in activities they value and contribute to their communities for as long as possible.
To help achieve this we have committed to following the World Health Organization's Age Friendly Communities Framework.
Strategy and action plan
The first step was to create a strategy and action plan. This was produced by the Council and partners, and describes what we plan to do.

Support available
A key activity is to highlight what support and guidance is available to people as they get older.
There is lots of support on offer, but sometimes it's hard to know where to look.
As a starting point we would advise you to look at guidance we have on our Support for adults section of the website or, if you would prefer, call our Let's Talk team on 0191 424 6000.
Age Concern Tyneside South (ACTS) are also a great place for support, see ACTS or call 0191 456 6903.
