Public health news: March 2025

599 bus survey

The 599 bus service started running in July 2024 to provide a new link to major employment sites and local communities.

The bus has strengthened links with Sunderland Royal Hospital, the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP), the Nissan car plant, Sunderland city centre, and Jarrow and Hebburn town centres.

Now, eight months on from the launch of the 599, Nexus is seeking the views of customers to see how the service can be improved further, particularly on Saturdays.

An online questionnaire is now available for customers and stakeholders to give their views: 599 Bus Service Survey

We would appreciate if this can be distributed to IAMP stakeholders for distribution to all their staff members, so we can get view a range of replies from current users, as well as those that don't use the service.

A prize of a £50 Love2Shop or Amazon gift card is on offer for those that complete the survey, and it closes on 31 March 2025.

Dental research

There is an opportunity to take part in a dental research project.

It consists of an appointment at the RVI Dental Hospital, but includes a general dental check, teeth clean and polish, along with a £25 gift voucher.

In addition, the dental nurses are happy to answer any basic questions with regards to dental problems, and signpost to the relevant services.

Please contact Dr Richard Holliday on richard.holliday@nhs.net to take part.
