Alcohol-specific mortality
This indicator release shows the rate per 100,000 of deaths from alcohol-specific conditions for all ages in 2023.
- It shows that South Tyneside has a rate of 30.1 per 100,000 people who die from alcohol-specific conditions.
- Excluding a lower rate of deaths from alcohol-specific conditions in 2021, South Tyneside continues to have an increasing trend of deaths since 2017.
- South Tyneside is significantly worse than the England rate of 15.0 per 100,000.
Population vaccination coverage: MMR for one dose (2 years old)
This indicator release shows the percentage of children who have received one dose of the MMR vaccine between their first & second birthday in 2023 / 2024.
- This shows that South Tyneside has a 96.3% vaccination coverage of children in this age range.
- This is significantly higher than England with an overall percentage of 88.9% in this age range.
Population vaccination coverage: MMR for one dose (5 years old)
This indicator release shows the percentage of children who received one dose of MMR on or after their first birthday and at any time up to their fifth birthday as a percentage of all children whose fifth birthday falls within the time period in 2023 / 2024.
- This shows that South Tyneside has a 96.8% vaccination coverage of children in this age range.
- This is significantly higher than England with an overall percentage of 91.9% in this age range.
Population vaccination coverage: MMR for two doses (5 years old)
This indicator release shows the percentage of children who received two doses of MMR on or after their first birthday and at any time up to their fifth birthday as a percentage of all children whose fifth birthday falls within the time period in 2023 / 2024.
- This shows that South Tyneside has a 93.7% vaccination coverage of children in this age range.
- This is significantly higher than England with an overall percentage of 83.9% in this age range.
NHS health checks quarterly update
This group of indicators show us the percentage of people who were offered a health check and who received a health check in the total eligible population (aged 40 to 74) for 2024 / 2025 Q2.
- In South Tyneside 3.7% of the eligible population were offered an NHS health check in Q2.
- This is significantly lower than the England percentage where 6.1% of the eligible population were offered an NHS health check.
- In South Tyneside 1.5% of the eligible population received a health check.
- This is significantly lower than England where 2.2% of the eligible population received a health check.
Life expectancy (3-year range)
This indicator release shows life expectancy at birth and life expectancy at age 65 for both males and females between 2021 and 2023.
- In South Tyneside life expectancy at birth for males is 76.7 years, where for females it is 80.8 years.
- This is a negligible change from 2020 to 2022 where males had a life expectancy at birth of 76.6 years, and females had a life expectancy at birth of 80.8.
- In South Tyneside males aged 65 and ovr have a life expectancy of 17.3 years, whereas females aged 65 and over have a life expectancy of 20.0 years.
- This is an increase for both males and females aged 65 and over from 2020 to 2022 where males had a life expectancy at age 65 and over of 17.1, and females a life expectancy of 19.6.
