About the Course

This course is intended to help governors understand key statutory health and safety requirements that schools should be complying with and how governors have a pivotal role to play.

The main role of the School Governors is to have a strategic overview of how a school is managed and is judged by Ofsted to be part of the leadership and management function.

This includes all aspects of governance and includes the monitoring and effectiveness of health and safety issues alongside curriculum issues both of which should form part of the everyday management processes.

The course objectives are to help governors:

  • Understand and simplify key pieces of statutory health and safety legislation that schools must comply with.
  • Explain key responsibilities of Employers, Governors and Heads.
  • Give guidance on the role of the governing boards in managing Health & Safety within schools
  • Where to get further information and support

There will be an opportunity for sharing ideas with other governors.

This course is suitable for all Governors
