Overview

Durham Light Infantry is open to both ex-service personnel of the DLI and males and females of all regiments within the British Armed Forces. This includes Regular service, Reserve Forces, a member of the Cadet Force or as a valued partner of a serving or ex-serving solider.


Aims

The aims of the branch are to maintain the spirit of the Durham Light Infantry and the former County Regiments by:

  • Keeping in touch with those who served in all the Light Infantry County Regiments
  • Providing opportunities to meet with other ex-service associations and branches by arranging regular meetings, functions, and events
  • Giving assistance where possible and looking after the welfare of members in times of need

Events

Events include:

  • Military parades such as Anzac Day, Mayors Sunday, DLI Reunion and Remembrance Day
  • Visiting service providers
  • Dinner nights
  • Battlefield tours
  • Curry nights
  • Social evenings
  • Clay pigeon shooting
  • Celebration events
  • Shooting competitions (air rifle)

The branch meets monthly on the last Tuesday of the month at 8pm in the lounge at the Royal British Legion, South Shields, NE33 1HL.

Visitors and potential new members are encouraged to be there by 7:30pm.
