Introduction

This notice provides additional privacy information regarding the Child Poverty Summit to be held on Wednesday 9 October 2024.

This privacy notice will be kept under regular review and attendees of the event informed of any changes.

This notice was implemented in August 2024.


Who we are

For the purposes of Data Protection legislation, South Tyneside Council is the Data Controller.


What type of personal information we collect

We may collect the following types of personal information:

  • Name
  • Organisation
  • Email address
  • Dietary requirements

How we collect personal information

We may collect your personal information in a number of ways, for example:

  • In person
  • In writing - for example letter or email
  • Telephone calls
  • Online forms

Why we collect your personal information

We need your name and email address to plan and prepare the Child Poverty Summit event and to circulate pre and post information and resources. This is the only way in which this data will be used.


Who we share your personal information with

We will share your name and email with the event planning team. We will not share your personal information with any other third parties unless you have specifically asked us to, or if we have a legal obligation to do so. 


How long we will keep your personal information

We will delete the personal information by 1 April 2025. Personal information can be deleted on request.


Our legal basis for using your personal information

To use your personal information there must be a lawful basis to do this, such as:

  • through a contract
  • performing a public task
  • where there is a legal obligation

How we keep your personal information secure

Information provided to the Anti-Poverty Strategy Coordinator is held securely on their network. Only officers working within the Policy and Insight team and system administrators have access to these records.


Use of personal information overseas

We will not process your personal information overseas.

Your individual rights are set out in law. Subject to some legal exemptions, you have the following rights:

If you feel that the Council has not handled your information correctly you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
