Overview

This order will come into force on 5 August 2024.

The order includes:

  • Changes to no waiting and no loading/unloading restrictions at any time on Cleadon Lane
  • Changes to no waiting Monday to Friday 8am to 9.30 and 3pm to 4pm restrictions on Cleadon Lane
  • Reduction in the extent of 30mph zone on Cleadon Lane
  • Increase in the extent of the 20mph zone on Cleadon Lane

South Tyneside Council (Cleadon Lane - Whitburn Village Primary School) Order 2024

On 31 July 2024 South Tyneside Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

The Order which comes into operation on 5 August 2024 will:

Revoke:-

  • No waiting and no loading/unloading at any time on Cleadon Lane, Whitburn
    • south side from a point 8 metres east of its junction with the south east section of the turning circle to Whitburn Village Primary School for a distance of 139 metres in a south easterly direction
  • No waiting and  no loading/unloading Monday to Friday 8am to 9.30 and 3pm to 4pm  on Cleadon Lane, Whitburn
    • from a point 8 metres south east of its junction with the school entrance for a distance of 139 metres in a south easterly direction.

Introduce:-

  • No waiting Monday to Friday 8am to 9.30am and 3pm to 4pm on Cleadon Lane, Whitburn
    • north side from its junction with Central Avenue in a westerly direction for a distance of 128 metres
    • south side from a point 44 metres west of its junction with Central Avenue in a westerly direction for a distance of 78 metres
  • No waiting at any time on Cleadon Lane, Whitburn
    • both sides from a point 22 metres east of its junction with Central Avenue in an east/south easterly direction for a distance of 212 metres
  • Reduction in the extent of the 30mph speed limit and on Cleadon Lane, Whitburn. 
    • 30mph speed limit will be from a point 213 metres west of the extended line of the western kerb of Central Avenue for a distance of 110 metres in a westerly direction                                      
  • Increase the extent of the 20mph speed limit     
    • 20mph speed limit will be from a point 213 metres west of the extended line of the western kerb of Central Avenue in an easterly direction to its junction with North Guards

Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL.Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 31 July 2024 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
