Mayoress to Welcome Local People

South Tyneside residents are being invited to meet the borough's Mayoress at a traditional event next month.

The Mayoress, Mrs Stella Matthewson, will be extending a warm welcome to local people when she hosts the Mayoress at Home at South Shields Town Hall.

The event will be held in the Reception Room at 3pm on 9 July. Light refreshments will be served and there will an opportunity to take a tour of the Civic Wing of the Town Hall.

The Mayoress said: "I am really looking forward to hosting this fabulous traditional event and to meeting local people.

"It's a lovely opportunity for residents to experience an historic custom, get dressed up and take in the beautiful setting of the town hall.

"I hope to welcome as many people as possible."
