Summer Solstice Story Walk: North Marine Park and The Groyne
Come and join us for a pleasant evening walk on the longest day of the year. You'll hear a few folk tales along the way too!
We'll meet next to the Tyne Lifeboat before heading down to the sea front.
Our route takes us along the promenade, past the Weebles and down to The Groyne.
On return, we'll walk through the North Marine Park, taking in the superb views across the harbour from the Lawe Top.

Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Distance: 1.6 miles
Total height climbed along the route: 80ft
Terrain: Good footpaths (concrete or tarmac) throughout the walk. There are some moderately steep paths within the North Marine Park.
Steps: There is a large set of steps leading up into the North Marine Park but these can be avoided with a very slight detour.
Wheelchair accessible: Yes
Toilets: There are toilets at the Haven Point Carpark.
Public transport to The Word:
South Shields Interchange (bus and metro) is about a 13 minute walk away. Buses 516 and E1 stop next to our start/finish point.
