South Tyneside Council (Surrent Street Area, Jarrow 20mph) Order 2024

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

The effect of the Order will be to reduce the speed limit to 20mph on:

  • Bede Burn Road, Jarrow from its junction with Kent Street for a distance of 45 metres in a south westerly direction;
  • Kent Street, Jarrow from its junction with Park Road for a distance of 90 metres in a north easterly direction then for a distance of 40 metres in a south easterly direction;
  • Surrey Street, Jarrow;
  • Sussex Street, Jarrow. 

Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Town Hall at the address below.

If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing to the Council's Legal Services Department at the address below or by using the same email address above by the 28 May 2024.
