Overview

We have a range of climbing walls for you to try out, varying in height from 5 metres, up to 9.5 metres.

We have:

  • 51 climbing lines
  • 11 clip and climb walls
  • a boulder wall to choose from
  • a trailblazer traverse wall - an interactive climbing wall
  • a sky climb wall, which allows you to compete against yourself or another climber whilst chasing the highest score

We have different options available for you to choose from. All options include:

  • entry
  • staff supervision
  • harnesses
  • other associated equipment to help you climb

Opening times

The opening times for our public climb sessions are:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 5.30pm to 7.15pm 
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 7.30pm to 9.15pm

Who the sessions are suitable for

These sessions are suitable for people aged 3 years and over, if accompanied by a participating adult.


Prices

  • Under 18 years old: £4 per person
  • 18 years old and older: £5 per person

How to book

All sessions must be pre booked in advance by contacting the centre on 0191 4240118.


Group sessions

Voluntary organisations or a uniformed services can book bespoke sessions.

Thess sessions can be self-led (dependant upon qualifcations), or staffed by our instructors.

These sessions cost £4 per person and take place during our public climbing session dates and times.


Birthday parties

Our birthday parties take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, or 7.30pm to 9.15pm. 

They cost £100 for 10 people, then £5 per person for any extra people, up to a maximum of 12 children.

The climbing party includes:

  • staff
  • equipment
  • around 1.5 hours of climbing
  • use of the kitchen area
  • a private seating area for food, cake and candles afterwards

Book a birthday party by contacting the centre.

A £50 deposit is required to secure your preferred date. The remaining balance is to be paid on the evening of the party.


Clothing

Please wear suitable clothing - no skirts, dresses or tight fitting clothes that will restrict your movements.

You don't need much kit. We will provide you with a harness and belay device with karabiner.


Health and safety 

Children under 8 years old cannot be left in the building without supervision.

Staff are appropriately qualified to supervise indoor rock climbing and all lead instructors hold either the Mountain Training's Rock Climbing Instructor or Climbing Wall Instructor Award, and a valid first aid certificate.
