Intelligence Update - December 2023

Health Inequalities Dashboard 

The latest update of the Health Inequalities dashboard includes data for five indicators. This includes: 

  • In 2022 / 23, the percentage of 16 to 17 year olds not in education, employment, or training (NEET) or whose activity is unknown was 5.9% in South Tyneside. This was not significantly different to the North East and England, which were both 5.2%.  
  • In 2022 / 23, the gap in employment rate between those with a physical or mental long-term health condition and the overall employment rate was 14.2% in South Tyneside. This was not significantly different to the North East (13.7%) and England (10.4%). 
  • In 2022, the prevalence of smoking in adults was 15.2% in South Tyneside. This was not significantly different to the North East (13.1%) and England (12.7%).
