Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) for parts of South Shields Town Centre

Overview

South Tyneside Council has carried out a consultation on a Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) regarding premises licences in the special policy area, in South Shields Town Centre.

The draft CIA suggested that a special policy area was no longer needed in the town centre.

This is because there has been a reduction in:

  • The number of licenced premises
  • Recorded crime attached to licensed premises

We did not receive any comments throughout the consultation period.

Based on the consultation, and crime data received from the police, the special policy area has been removed and no longer forms part of South Tyneside's Licensing Act 2003 policy.
