Overview

Gateshead College's Project Choice is a supported training programme for young people with learning difficulties, disabilities and autism.

What is on offer

Project Choice is an award-winning programme that will provide you with the skills and experience you need to get into work.

The programme is delivered by Gateshead College, with the support of private sector businesses.

You will work towards a qualification in employability skills and develop your maths and English skills.

You will gain skills like:

  • Independent living skills including daily living, health, relationships, community, leisure, travel and mobility.
  • Communication, maths and English skills.
  • Opportunities to get involved in arts, sport and leisure.
  • Lots of practical skills through work preparation and work experience and a chance to try practical areas such as: catering and hospitality, sport, ICT and performing arts.
  • Experience in the workplace whilst on work placements.

Class sizes are small so that you can get more one to one support and help from support staff and teachers is available.

If appropriate, you will be met when you come into college by your key support and teaching staff and you will have someone with you until you are picked up or leave college.

Programmes are based at their Baltic Campus and work experience takes place offsite with a local placement partner.
