ABOUT JOHN NORMAN PRICE

When a pupil at South Shields Grammar Technical School, John won an open scholarship to Leicester University where he studied English and Philosophy. He worked as an English teacher with special interest in drama, film studies and learning through discussion, before moving into the world of journalism at the Sunderland Echo, where he introduced a national award winning Newspapers in Education programme.  As  writer, he has published several media studies books, a couple of novels and some short stories as well as Iron Press's pamphlet 'Bye Bye Blackboard'. He lives with his wife in Washington and has two children and four grandchildren.

ABOUT ROBERT BEST

Robert Best wrote poems as a child, and started taking it seriously after he performed at spoken word events in the North East of England. Much of his inspiration arises from his decades-long study and practice of shamanism, our oldest belief system which, in turn, grew out of the 15 years he spent studying with a ritual Kabbalistic group in London. Robert now lives in the wilds of Northumberland with his son (sometimes), Tyne the Collie, and three-and-a-half cats.
