Last Call for #LoveSouthTyneside 2023 Award Nominees

Local people are urged to nominate unsung heroes from across the Borough in this year's #LoveSouthTyneside Awards before the closing date this week.

Now in its fifth year, the #LoveSouthTyneside Awards have gone from strength to strength. Nominations showcase the amazing community spirit that exists in South Tyneside, highlighting those unsung heroes who help others without expecting recognition.

This year's ceremony takes place at the Customs House in South Shields on Tuesday 18 July 2023. However, the deadline for nominations is midnight this Friday (30th June).

The #LoveSouthTyneside Awards celebrate civic pride and community spirit in South Tyneside. There are nine categories open for nominations. Nominations are welcomed from anyone and can be for any individual, organisation or group who has gone above and beyond for their community.

Cllr Paul Dean, Lead Member for Voluntary Sector, Partnerships and Equalities at South Tyneside Council said: "The #LoveSouthTyneside Awards are all about celebrating our unsung heroes. The people who make our lives richer from the little selfless acts that they do on a day-to-day basis. From people who do regular litter picks to those who look out for their neighbours and much more. South Tyneside is bursting with community heroes who go above and beyond to make the Borough such a fantastic place to live."

The nominations categories are:

  • Environment
  • Above and beyond
  • Communities helping communities
  • Inspiring talent
  • Heart of the community
  • Team of the year
  • People's choice award
  • #LoveSouthTyneside Award

Cllr John McCabe, Mayor of South Tyneside said: "If you know of someone who deserves a special 'thank you' for their amazing work, then please take the time to nominate so that we can help to show them just how valued they really are. We are extremely grateful to all those who have made, and still are making, a huge difference within South Tyneside."

Everyone nominated will receive a letter from the Mayor and a #LoveSouthTyneside pin badge to say thank you for their outstanding work within the community. The Awards ceremony held on 18th July at the Customs House in South Shields is truly accessible to all, with complimentary tickets for those nominated and a nominal ticket price for wider guests who want to celebrate the winners announced on the evening.
