The school nurses in South Tyneside have launched CHAT Health to young people aged 11 to 19 years old.

CHAT Health is a confidential help and advice tool enabling safe and secure text messaging between 11 and 19 year olds living in the Borough and the school nursing team.

This platform allows young people to ask any health or lifestyle related questions and get robust, evidence based advice and support ranging from general health issues to sexual health, mental health, help to stop smoking and relationship issues.

This support can progress if needed to face to face support to the young person.

The service has been launched in all secondary schools in South Tyneside and in the coming months will be launched in local colleges.

The service allows the school nurses to sign post young people to more relevant services if needed.
