To develop knowledge, skills and the ability to work together with regard to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, by providing the opportunity for colleagues from different agencies to learn together and explore professional dilemmas

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

Define abuse and identify the signs and indicators of abuse
Identify the legislative framework where children's welfare is safeguarded and promoted
Make judgements regarding concerns, based on an increased understanding of child development and within a framework of assessment
Know what to do if you are worried a child is being abused
Identify protocols for information sharing
Describe South Tyneside's referral process and criteria
Describe interagency roles and responsibilities
