Course aims

  • To raise awareness and knowledge about the physical abuse of children and young people and the impact this has on them

Course learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Define physical abuse in the context of current research and policy
  • Identify the signs, symptoms and significant indicators of physical abuse
  • Recognise the impact of physical abuse on the children
  • Identify key areas within the Multi-Agency Threshold Guidance that would support Early Help intervention
  • Identify key elements in assessing risk in relation to physical abuse
