Course aims

  • To improve delegates understanding and response to children and young people who are being emotionally abused

Course learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Define emotional abuse in the context of current research and policy
  • Identify the signs, symptoms and significant indicators of emotional abuse
  • Recognise the impact of emotional abuse on the child's identity and the impact of family relationships within this context
  • Apply evidence of best practice to inform interventions with families where emotional abuse is a concern or risk, working together to explore professional dilemmas
