Course aims

  • To raise awareness of the issues affecting the children of problem substance users
  • To provide participants with the knowledge needed to understand parental substance misuse
  • To provide participants with the knowledge to recognise the warning signs and potential impact on a child/young person's life

Course learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Understand values and attitudes regarding substance misuse
  • Demonstrate knowledge of specific substances and their effects on the body
  • Recognise the needs of children and young people whose parents misuse substances
