Overview

There is a huge programme of investment underway across South Tyneside, including:

  • roads and footpaths investment
  • expanding the cycle network
  • economic growth projects
  • sustainability in the community
  • and so much more

Where the money comes from

To deliver the scale of change outlined in the South Shields Masterplan Vision, significant investment will be required including:

  • land acquisition
  • demolition
  • site preparation
  • engineering
  • public realm works
  • delivery of high-quality buildings

The cost and complexity must be considered when defining suitable funding and delivery arrangements.

For some projects it will be appropriate for the Council to take the lead funding through our Medium-Term Financial Plan or grant funding opportunities.

There will also be opportunities from the Mayoral Combined Authority should this be formally established by Government.

Some projects may also be funded by the private sector.
