Easter bank holiday closures

South Shields and Jarrow Town Halls

South Shields Town Hall will close at 3pm on Thursday 17 April and will reopen at 10am on Tuesday 22 April.

Jarrow Town Hall will close at 3pm on Wednesday 16 April and will reopen at 10am on Wednesday 23 April.

Council Contact Centre (0191 427 7000)

The Contact Centre will close at 6:30pm on Thursday 17 April and will reopen on Tuesday 22 April at 8am.

The Switchboard will close at 5pm on Thursday 17 April and will reopen on Tuesday 22 April at 8:30am.

For any South Tyneside Council emergencies the out of hours team will be available throughout the Easter Weekend on 0191 4556111.

Local Welfare Provision Service (Crisis support)

The Crisis Support Service will close at 5pm on Thursday 17 April and reopen at 8.30am on Tuesday 22 April 2025.

Whilst we will try to complete application received before the service closes we cannot guarantee that applications received after 2pm on Thursday 17 April will be processed.

Bin collections

There are no changes to the bin collections on Good Friday.

Bins due for collection on Friday 18 April will be collected as normal.

Please make sure your bin is out for collection by 7.30am.
