Haven Court is on the South Tyneside District Hospital site, but has its own separate entrance and car park, with access from McAnany Avenue.

Our vision for Haven Court is for it to become a hub for the local community, providing person-centred care and support.

We are experienced in providing practical and emotional support to help older people to cope with changes and issues that can arise in later life, provide a better understanding of the help and support available and offer practical solutions to enable you to remain independent.

Peer support

If you suffer from dementia, then you and your carers and family can come along to our Dementia Friendly Cafés at South Shields and Jarrow where you can share information and experiences, or simply have a cup of tea and a chat.

These are places where you can get information, find out where else to go to for support or listen to a guest speaker.

Carers' meetings

These groups give your carers the opportunity to meet others experiencing similar issues and share their stories as well as providing information.

Singing for the Brain

Singing is not only an enjoyable activity, but can also provide a way for you and your carers to express yourselves and socialise with others in a fun and supportive group.

Sessions are held at South Shields and Jarrow.

People with early to moderate stages of dementia and their carers are welcome to join us at one of our fun and stimulating sessions.

If you are interested in either of the support groups or would like to speak to our Dementia Support Worker.
