A South Tyneside nursery where parents say their children 'flourish' has been rated by Ofsted as Good.

The inspector found Stanleys at All Saints to be a friendly nursery where staff work well together and have a good understanding of each child's individual care needs.

In her report she adds: "Children are very happy and confident. They move around the broad range of stimulating activities and become inquisitive learners.

"Staff are always close by to respond to children's needs and have high expectations for children's behaviour. Children learn to behave and interact well together. Staff are calm and positive role models, teaching them good manners and respect.

"Parents say their children flourish at nursery. Overall, all children make good progress from their starting points."

Although the experienced staff team has a good knowledge of how children learn and teaching is consistently good, plans are in place to improve their skills to extend children's learning even further.

The inspector adds in her report: "Parents speak highly of the staff and how well they support their children's interests and learning. They report that since joining the nursery, their children are increasingly confident, speak more and will now try new foods. They are kept fully informed about their children's progress and how they can support their learning at home."

The rating is further evidence that the Council is delivering on its priority of supporting families.

Parent Samantha Young, whose son TommyPaul and daughter Louisiana go to the nursery, has nothing but praise for the nursery.

She said: "The staff at all Saints are absolutely brilliant, the children love every single one of them. We access the two year offer which has really improved my children's outcomes for their future. They can count, they both know all their colours and are now very confident children. I would advise any parent to use this nursery for their child.

"The extra support is also great for someone like me as I've had time to myself to run the family home and work part time as well."

She added: "I have used the centre since 2015, we love using the sensory room and soft play, I have used training such as baby massage, and baby weighing with the health visitors. I have also used the centre for to help me stop smoking."

Councillor Adam Ellison, Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: "Well done to Stanleys at All Saints! This outcome is testament to the hard work of the staff team and the environment that they create for our families. Every child deserves the best start in life and that is exactly what this nursery does.

"We will always strive to improve opportunities for our young people."
