The Council usually works with Churches Together South Tyneside, the Key Project and the Salvation Army during the summer holidays to collect and recycle school uniforms.
These uniforms are normally made available to families at the Salvation Army South Shields branch.
Some schools organise for school uniform to be donated and they distribute this for free.
Contact your school directly to find out if they can offer any support.
The Council does not offer financial help to buy school uniforms.
Families in receipt of free school meals whose children are starting or moving schools in 2023, are to receive supermarket vouchers to help with the cost of school uniforms. For more information, see Help with School Uniform Costs for Struggling Families.
