Museums are a great resource and the possibilities to work with us are endless.

Their Outreach team works with a range of communities and are always looking for new ways to bring museums to life for different audiences - whether in the museums or outside at a venue to suit the group.

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums have four community programmes:

  • The Wellbeing Programme - supporting people with mental health issues across Tyneside
  • The Recovery Programme - supporting people in recovery from addiction and who are involved in the criminal justice system across Tyneside
  • The Platinum Programme - for people aged over 55 across Tyneside. The programme aims to improve the health and wellbeing of participants by focusing on the Five Ways to Wellbeing (Keep Learning, Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Give).
  • The Network Programme - working with groups of people from across Tyneside to build new and develop existing community heritage and archive collections, exhibitions and events.
