A professional tree surgeon should always possess a nationally recognised qualification such as the Certificate in Arboriculture (RFS) and if acting as a consultant or undertaking detailed surveys, especially regarding subsidence issues, should hold a higher qualification such as National Diploma in Arboriculture, Technicians Certificate in Arboriculture or preferably Professional Diploma in Arboriculture/ Master of Arboriculture (RFS).
