Overview

South Tyneside Council has received White Ribbon accreditation.

This means that South Tyneside Council will commit to delivering a comprehensive action plan to change the cultures that lead to abuse and violence and promote gender equality across South Tyneside, in line with the Council's priority of supporting vulnerable groups.

What is White Ribbon

White Ribbon is a global campaign that encourages people, and especially men and boys, to individually and collectively take action and change the behaviour and culture that leads to abuse and violence.

White Ribbon Day will be recognised around the world on November 25, which is also the start of 16 Days of Action against domestic violence and abuse.

Action we will take

The actions the Council have pledged to take include:

  • engaging with men and boys to prevent abuse against women and girls
  • recruiting White Ribbon Ambassadors and Champions, who will help to deliver a positive culture

For more information, see White Ribbon.

Take the White Ribbon Promise
