Monkton Stadium
Overview
Works is currently taking place to renovate Monkton Stadium Leisure Centre. The renovations includes: Works started in June 2022 and is expected to be completed by Spring 2023. During this time the gym, sports hall and changing rooms will be closed. All other areas will remain open as usual. While a number of fitness classes will continue to be provided on site, a selection has been temporarily relocated to Jarrow Focus and Hebburn Central while the works take place.Monkton Stadium refurbishment
Monkton Stadium is a major athletics venue that hosts both regional and national events.
The centre offers a fitness suite, fitness classes, track and field events and coaching in many sports, as well as being the home of Jarrow and Hebburn Athletics Club.
Monkton Stadium are proud to be part of the Leisurewatch scheme. This provides training and support to our staff to help them recognise concerning behaviour and act to stop it, making our public spaces safer for all of us.

How to get here
By car
Monkton Stadium is located on Dene Terrace adjacent to the B1516.
We have on site car parking which costs 70p for the whole day.
By local bus services
Bus numbers: 9, 26 and 88A.
The bus stops at Bede Burn Road followed by a 5 minute walk.
By Metro
The nearest Metro station is Jarrow followed by a 20 minute walk.

About
Monkton Stadium's fitness suite houses a range of cardio-vascular and resistance equipment, as well as an area dedicated to floor work such as warm-up, stretch, weights and abdominal work.
You must be aged 16 or over to use the gym.

Running tracks

Monkton Stadium has:
- an 8 lane, 400 metre synthetic outdoor competition track
- a 6 lane, 400 metre Dolomite outdoor training track
- a 4 lane, 60 metre indoor sprint track
