Hayden's Biography
I was born in South Shields and I have spent most of my life living in the town. I attended Simonside Juniors and Westoe Secondary Boys School. My working life began as a Sheet Metalwork Engineer. Then in 1983, I gained a position as an Engineering Instructor. I gained my BEd at Sunderland University in 1993 and joined the teaching profession. I taught in a number of schools in Northumberland and Sunderland, teaching Design & Technology. In 2001, I gained my MA in Educational Management with the Open University. From 2011, I held Lecturing posts in Engineering at Gateshead, Durham and Newcastle before retiring in 2020. This is when I started writing, I began by writing short stories based on my life, then I made the decision to write my first book, `A Life Navigated. `

This is a story of a man, whose life presented him with many challenging situations. These began as an 11-year-old boy and continued through World War 2 and beyond. It was published in 2020.

My second book 'Garn Yem' published in 2022, is a narrative that follows the lives of nine young men in the early 1970s and their friendship, aspirations and approach to life . The settings for these stories include South Shields, Tyneside and Wearside.

My third book `What Have We Done? 'is another change of direction. It is a fictional story that follows the lives of a Jewish family from Czechoslovakia caught up in the Holocaust. This was published in September through the memiorclub@msn.com.
