Business and IP Centre North East (BIPC)


What they offer

The Business and IP Centre North East is part of the national BIPC network, all operating from within Libraries. They are a free source of information and advice for inventors, start-up businesses, and existing businesses based in the North East of England.

BIPC North East delivers its services within The Word Library, South Tyneside.

Services include:

  • Property advice and information
    A free service for businesses and pre-starts to understand the importance of IP and how to use it as a tool for business growth.

  • Marketing Intelligence and Business Information databases 
    A range of business information databases that are free to local start ups and businesses. They provide a growth tool for businesses to look at sector trends, develop products, look at the competition, and look for customers. This can be accessed from libraries across the North East.

  • Experts in Residence
    Free one-to-one sessions from partner and support agencies on topics including business advice (such as HR, retail, import/export, cyber security), innovation and growth, property and law, marketing, digital communication, green / sustainable business.

  • Events Programme
    A range of events and workshops for start-ups and existing businesses. These events take place at a range of locations, including libraries and community venues. They are delivered by the BIPC North East team, Experts in Residence and BIPC Local partners.
