- Those with long-term health issues
They can help if you are having difficulty paying energy bills, needing assistance to heat your home affordably, or wanting to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
Their energy mentors can:
- Advise on reducing energy use and lowering bills
- Negotiate repayments for arrears with suppliers
- Apply for hardship funds and grants
- Check eligibility for discount schemes
- Identify energy efficiency improvements
- Assist with budgeting and benefits checks
They provide long-term support until energy issues are resolved. Mentors work across South Tyneside and can provide guidance over the phone, online, or via home visits.
The HEAT program is delivered by Wise Group and funded by South Tyneside Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. They work closely with local charities and community groups.
