Jarrow Town Board
Overview
As part of their long term plan for towns, the government annouced that they would be providing a long term investment into local towns, including Jarrow.
As a result, Jarrow will receive a 10 year £20 million fund to be spent on local people's priorities.
Government guidance states the funding should focus on three key areas:
- improving transport and connections to make travel easier for residents and increase visitor numbers
- tackling crime and anti-social behaviour to keep residents safe and encourage visitors
- improving town centres to make high streets more attractive and accessible
The Council will be working closely with local community members to create a plan for the town. This will be managed by a new Town Board.
For more information, see the full Terms of Reference.
